NDSU Libraries is looking for a Downtown Campus Librarian to join our team! This individual will provide leadership and direction in support of the downtown branch libraries and serve as the liaison to the departments located downtown. This position is located within the Research & Engagement department. As a member of the department of Research and Engagement, the Downtown Campus Librarian will manage the day-to-day operations of the Klai Juba Wald Architectural Studies Library, the Business Learning Center, and the Falck Library, serving as the liaison to the College of Business and the School of Design, Architecture, and Art. The successful candidate will manage, develop, and promote research and instruction services, provide research consultations, reference services, and develop the collections for their designated liaison areas. This individual is expected to work collaboratively with the Research and Engagement team to serve the students, faculty, and staff of NDSU. This is a 10-month position, with the potential for additional work in the summer.

Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday with occasional evenings and weekends

Advertised Salary:  $50,000+/year depending on experience and qualifications, with the potential for additional contracted work in the summer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Accredited ALA or international equivalent MLS, MLIS, MSIS or MS; ALA-accredited Masters in Library Science.
  • Experience providing library instruction in person and/or online.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in one or more areas of Business, Art, Architecture, Design, or Landscape Architecture.
  • Experience working in an academic library or research setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with the faculty, staff, and students in the College of Business and the School of Design, Art, and Architecture, to engage, provide support to, teach, and motivate students. 
  • Experience with circulation, budgets, scheduling, or supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the library as an academic support unit. 
  • Demonstrated ability to create a library environment that is welcoming and inclusive.  
  • Experience working with under-represented populations.
  • Experience creating and implementing programs/services, and identifying collection development processes.
  • Experience developing/delivering instruction in an academic library environment.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment.  
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others in an environment committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. 
  • Knowledge of current trends and challenges facing research libraries, researchers, and higher education.
